Providing geospatial capacity for the indigenous community
The Indigenous Mapping Workshop (IMW) and its strategic partners are dedicated to the development and advancement of culturally appropriate and inclusive geospatial technologies for Indigenous leadership, agencies, and communities to support Indigenous rights and interests.
Earth Science Week 2019 will be celebrated during the week of October 13-19, 2019 with the theme: Geoscience is for everyone!
Aligned with ongoing efforts to enhance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the sciences, this theme acknowledges both the potential and the importance of the geosciences in the lives of all people.
Australia’s coastline was subject to over 30 tsunamis since 1950, most generated by distant earthquakes in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Some induced hazardous marine currents and inundation. Should we expect larger tsunamis in future? Where? How big? How often?
Earth Systems, Big Data and Big Science, all underpinned by new technologies, are key themes in future geoscience. Australia, with its continent-wide data sets and in its ocean hemisphere, is well-placed to play a big part in this future, but effective collaboration is essential to realise this potential.
Join us and our partners for a day where we look back at the impacts we made as the CRCSI, and set out our new future as FrontierSI and our role in delivering major benefits to governments, industry, academia and the community in Australia and New Zealand. Our conference will be held on the market day of Locate19. Registration is by invite only, if you have not received an invite and you wish to, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will consider your request.
Where to Next? Location, How we Drive our Digital Future
On behalf of the Locate Conferences Australia it is our pleasure to invite you to join us at the Locate19 Conference, 8 – 10 April in Melbourne, Victoria.
Consistently named at the top of the world’s most liveable cities lists, Melbourne is Australia’s home of sport, art, live music, theatres, education and more. The MCEC Conference venue is on the banks of the Yarra River, in the heart of the city – the perfect location for the premier conference of the surveying and spatial industries in Australia and New Zealand.
With a theme of “Where to next? How geospatial science is driving our digital future” this conference will have an engaging approach that will bring together innovative global leaders who will share their ideas, knowledge, and experiences on a wide range of subjects. Every year Locate sets and shares the future direction of the industry, and brings speakers together across the government, private, non-profit and academic sectors.
You will have an opportunity to network with colleagues from all corners of the globe, have direct access to vendors and subject matter experts in the Interactive Zone, see the newest technology, and be introduced to the newest ideas in the spatial sector.
