$3.1M secured to advance the AusEnHealth platform
FrontierSI is thrilled to announce that its Australian Environmental Health (AusEnHealth) Decision Support Initiative has secured $3.1M in funding from the Medical Research Future Fund’s National Critical Research Infrastructure program ($1.9M) and project stakeholders ($1.2M).
AusEnHealth is being designed to highlight the vulnerabilities of different regions in Australia to rising temperatures, extreme weather events, increasing CO₂ emissions, and social inequalities. By making data more transparent and accessible, the platform will empower policymakers to take informed action and help communities adapt to changing conditions.
Paula Fievez, FrontierSI’s Chief Business Officer and Health Lead, said the funding would support critical upgrades to the platform’s infrastructure such as enabling new analytical capabilities, integrating additional climate and air pollution datasets, and expanding to cover more environmental health domains, such as mosquito-borne diseases.
Importantly, the funding will enable the AusEnHealth Platform to be made operational and make actionable data accessible to inform climate adaptation and health strategies, empowering decision-makers and communities.
AusEnHealth is a collaborative initiative led by FrontierSI and the Queensland University of Technology, with support from partners including the WA Department of Health, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Curtin University, the University of Canberra, the University of Queensland, University of Sydney, NGIS, AURIN, Victorian Environmental Protection Authority and the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN).
