FrontierSI celebrates multiple wins at geospatial excellence awards

FrontierSI has been recognised across several categories at the Geospatial Council of Australia’s 2025 Excellence Awards – Oceania, securing recognition across for its innovative contributions to the geospatial industry.

In the Community Impact category, FrontierSI, in collaboration with NGIS and CSIRO, was honoured for the Vanuatu Climate Futures Portal. This groundbreaking platform empowers communities in Vanuatu to adapt to climate change by providing tailored climate projections and decision-support tools.

In the Innovation – Medium to Large Business category, FrontierSI was awarded alongside partners UNSW, MapAI, ID CONSULTING, Geelong Council, and Tamworth Council for the MapAI project. MapAI leverages artificial intelligence to automate mapping processes, enhancing urban planning and infrastructure management.

In the individual categories, FrontierSI’s spatial development lead, Lachlan Hurst, received the Hydrographic Excellence Award for his pivotal role in developing the AusSeabed Survey Coordination Tool and Quality Assurance Tool. These tools are integral to AusSeabed’s collaborative initiative aimed at advancing seabed mapping across Australia.

Former FrontierSI team members also received accolades. Phil Delaney was co-recipient of the Bruce Thompson Award, recognising outstanding leadership, while Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse was honoured with the Peter Woodgate Award for enduring contributions to the geospatial profession.
