LAUNCHING AGO LABS – UNCOVERING INNOVATIVE ANALYTICS CAPABILITY
FrontierSI is excited to launch the AGO Labs Program, in partnership with The Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO), to better showcase Australia’s machine analytics industry.
Minister for Defence Industry, Melissa Price, said “this is about [Defence] establishing new frameworks for engagement, strengthening partnerships and raising the awareness of industry and academia to the challenges and capability requirements of our geospatial community.”
“AGO’s partnership with industry experts, such as FrontierSI, reinforces the Morrison Government’s commitment to supporting Australia’s world-leading and critical innovation sector,” Minister Price said.
Today marks the start of the proposal response period of the second iteration of the AGO Analytics Labs program, with all round one responses due back to FrontierSI by 11 December 2020.
FrontierSI Chief Innovation and Delivery Officer, Phil Delaney, said “this exciting opportunity assists AGO to extend its geospatial-intelligence capability and access those innovative companies to trial new technology approaches. At the same time, the program enables businesses to showcase their skillsets to AGO without needing any defence clearance levels.’’
The program involves a series of unclassified new and emergent capability challenges, via small scale research projects and concept demonstrators.
Delaney also noted, “We’re proud to lead programs like AGO Labs, which collaborate with our government partners, and continue to invest in our space-enabled industries.”
After the success of the 2019 AGO Labs program, FrontierSI has worked with Defence to expand this year’s program out to at least six potential projects valued up to $150,000 each and split over two challenge rounds.
The successful industry applicants, through FrontierSI, will run projects for approximately six months and involve participants working closely with AGO and Defence subject matter experts demonstrating how modern technologies could be used in the provision of geospatial-intelligence products to Defence and Government customers.
FrontierSI would like to reiterate Minister Price’s invitation for innovative Australian and New Zealand companies to submit project proposals that explore novel solutions to unclassified, but pertinent, challenges.
