Aus Cal/Val Report
Establishing Australia as a Global Leader in Delivering Quality Assured Satellite Earth Observation Data
Earth Observation Australia Inc, FrontierSI, SmartSat CRC and Symbios Communications recently undertook consultation to bring together the satellite Earth observation quality assurance requirements of the Australian space and Earth observation community. The consultation sought feedback on a report detailing these requirements. Titled ” AusCalVal: Establishing Australia as a Global Leader in Delivering Quality Assured Satellite Earth Observation Data”, the report was commissioned by Geoscience Australia (GA) in consultation with the Australian Space Agency (ASA), Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Organisation (CSIRO). The report forms part of a series of independent studies undertaken in support of the development of the Australian Space Agency’s Earth Observations from Space Technology Roadmap. The contents of the report are independent and hence do not represent the position of the Australian Government.
The report outlines Australia’s requirements for quality assurance of satellite Earth observation data and the infrastructure needed to ensure the operational success and achievability of reliable, enduring, and high-quality satellite Earth observations. It highlights the key opportunities that, if taken up, could support Australia in becoming a global leader in testing and quality assurance for domestic and foreign satellite Earth observation missions, accelerate the growth of the Australian space sector, and create opportunity and resilience for the nation.
